The World Economic Forum (WEF) released its 2017 Gender Gap Report last week, so we thought we'd take a look at the US and in some of the countries where our clients are working to close the gender gap in their companies. While progress is slow, many nations are making progress - and we are grateful for the improvements they are making in the lives of women.
According to the WEF "the Index benchmarks national gender gaps on economic, political, education and health criteria, and provides country rankings that allow for effective comparisons across regions and income groups. The rankings are designed to create greater awareness among a global audience of the challenges posed by gender gaps and the opportunities created by reducing them. The methodology and quantitative analysis behind the rankings are intended to serve as a basis for designing effective measures for reducing gender gaps."
Country ranking are based off of the Global Gap Index Score. The highest possible score is 1 (equality) and the lowest possible score is 0 (inequality). As you can see over the last decade there is a slow progression across our clients' countries towards greater equality, but there is more work to be done.
Every company that is taking action to minimize barriers to advancement, proactively close the gender gap and ensure equal pay are contributing to progress toward equality. Thank you for all you are doing.
