Overview

Formerly delivered as the Women's Institute for Leadership at Bryant University, Purpose, Power, Presence is a proven program especially designed for middle managers*. With an 86% success rate - graduates being promoted or obtaining expanded responsibilities - this program will help you master the challenges of middle management and become a more confident, credible and competent leader.

Session 1: You'll leave with a clearer understanding of what it means to be a leader, the reported differences in perceptions of men and women in leadership and how to present yourself with authenticity and leadership presence.

Session 2: You'll enhance your credibility as a leader through strengthened business acumen, the ability to use the language of power in business and clarity about your positional purpose (it's more than just "doing your job.") You'll leave with great clarity about executing the leadership responsibilities of middle management.

Session 3: You'll leave with an increased ability to use effective strategies for tapping into the power of strategic relationships - engaging others and strengthening and nurturing your strategic network for success.

Session 4: Pulling it all together, you'll understand how to best stand on the foundation of your personal greatness in order to lead with confidence, competence and credibility and how to best integrate your leadership role into the context of your whole life.

We all have our own mountains to climb. It's Not About the Hike highlights the journey of two women- non-hikers - who one day decided to climb the 67 mountains in New England over 4,000 feet. Nancy Sporborg and Pat Piper are two ordinary women who went on an extraordinary journey over the mountain summits and into their hearts. This is the story of what they found inside themselves as they hiked over 1,250 miles to the tops of over 190 mountains through all four seasons.

About Anne Szostak

Anne Szostak is a business and community leader with significant management and board experience in the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors. Currently President and CEO of Szostak Partners, LLC, a Providence, RI-based consulting firm, Anne provides advice and counsel to leaders who are trying to solve real business problems. Her extensive experience in financial services and human resources allows her to coach executive leaders in all industries.

Before starting her consulting practice, Anne built a successful career at Fleet Boston Financial (now Bank of America) in both line and staff roles. She served as a member of the Executive Committee and Corporate Executive Vice President of this diversified financial firm with assets of $200 billion and 55,000 employees. She also served as Chairman and CEO of Fleet Bank of RI (2001-2003) and Chairman and CEO of Fleet Bank of Maine (1991-1994). In addition to assisting the bank with over 100 acquisitions, she led the company’s efforts to become an employer of choice.

Anne currently sits on the boards of Tupperware Brands Corporation, Belo Corporation, SFN Group, Inc., and Dr. Pepper Snapple. She is active on several not-for-profit boards: Trustee and Immediate Past Chairman of the Women & Infants Hospital Board; Director of the Rhode Island Foundation; Governor and Chairman Emeritus of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America; and Trustee Emeritus of Colby College. She is a fellow at the BU School of Management’s Human Resources Policy Institute, and is a member of the Massachusetts Chapter of International Women’s Forum and Women Corporate Directors.

It is the mission of the AWE Conference to support the emerging women in business community. With the generous support of our

We will be awarding a limited number of scholarships that will cover 100% of the cost of attendance.

Research clearly shows that mentoring relationships play a key role in career advancement. For most, we understand the value and importance in having mentoring relationships but seek guidance after the “match” to ensure we are creating meaningful and rewarding experiences for both the mentor and protégé.

Throughout this workshop, Leading Women's Lisa Bergeron weaves through the “how to” perspectives for both the mentor and the protege, and addresses the critical reasons to move the relationships from “advice mentoring” to “advance mentoring”. Whether a participant is a mentor or a protege, they will learn what they haven’t been told about career success (but need know) and how to align mentoring goals and progress with this success equation.

This session will help you reflect on your mentoring experiences and essential strategies for ongoing success. Participants leave with practical tools hat will ensure that they make the most of mentoring relationships.
