Lessons in Leadership with Anne Szostak

Anne Szostak is one of Rhode Island's preeminent businesswoman and community leader with expertise in general management in the public and private sectors, human resources and financial services. Anne is President and CEO of Szostak Partners, a RI-based consulting firm that provides executive coaching and human resources consulting to CEOs and HR directors. Additionally, she serves as Lead Director of Tupperware Brands Corporation and is the Director of Belo Corporation, ChoicePoint Corporation and Spherion Corporation.
Before starting her own business, Anne built a successful, 31-year career at FleetBoston Financial. She served as Executive Vice President of Human Resources and Diversity, as a member of the Executive Committee and as the Retirement Committee Chair. Previously, she was Chairman and CEO of Fleet Bank Maine (1991-1994) and Rhode Island (2001-2003).
Under Anne's leadership Fleet earned recognition as an employer of choice from many organizations including Working Mother, the National Business and Disability Council, the Black MBA Association, Diversity Inc, Latina Style, and the Gay Financial Network. Anne has been published in the Harvard Business Review, co-authoring "How Fleet Bank Fought Employee Flight."
In addition to her corporate endeavors, Anne serves several leading national and local community organizations. She is currently Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Vice Chairman and Trustee of Women & Infants Hospital, a Director of the Rhode Island Foundation, a Trustee of Salve Regina University and a member of the Providence College President's Council. She is also a member of Massachusetts Chapter of the International Women's Forum.
Anne graduated Colby College in 1972, became its youngest trustee in 1973 and now serves as trustee emeritus. She has received numerous civic and business awards and five honorary degrees. Anne resides in Providence with her husband Michael, a sports columnist for The Providence Journal.
